The classic American amplifiers of the ‘50s and ‘60s inspired us to create the, errrrr, American Classic series.
The Ceriatone 5F6-A Tweed Bassman All Access amplifier is based on the tweed-covered amplifier of the same designation. This amplifier was made in the ‘50s, and was available as a 4×10” combo. This is, in our opinion, perhaps the most important amplifier ever produced, as it served as the foundation of a specific British company that forever changed the sound of music with the JTM45 amplifier.
The 5F6-A is different in topology than our other American Classics. It uses a single 5AR4 / GZ34 rectifier with a pair of 6L6 tubes for around 30-35W, depending on your selection of output and rectifier tubes. The preamp and tonestack are also different, and in particular laid the foundation for Treble-Middle-Bass tonestacks that came after.
The use of the quad of 10” speakers lent a signature flavor to the sound, and we recommend pairing it with one for authentic 5F6-A tones. Speaker configurations aside, you’ll find this amplifier is very similar to the JTM45, and can be made even more so by substituting a 12AX7 for V1.
Like other Ceriatone amps, we have labored carefully to select the finest components to suit the design, and the 5F6-A uses our specially designed custom transformers for superior reliability, frequency response, and feel.
